With a few exceptions, every four years just over 50% of the people who vote for the President in this country pick the winner, and just under 50% of the people pick the loser. That transfer of power happens peacefully and smoothly and while the people who pick the loser (and the loser) are disappointed, there isn’t a whole lot of risk associated with backing the wrong horse. It’s an important feature of our system of government that while the majority rules, they do so while protecting the rights of the minority. The minority wait their turn, hopefully come up with better arguments, and they get another shot at the prize four years later.
What the losers don’t do is turn traitor.
As a fed, you don’t have to vote for someone or agree with all their policies to effectively serve. In fact, during such times it’s imperative that you do just that – serve effectively – so that whims and base desires are tempered thanks to your diligence and professionalism.
If your efforts are thwarted, or you witness wrong-doing, it’s your responsibility to use the mechanisms available to you to remedy the situation. You might not get the answer or outcome you desire, but you’ve done things the right way.
If you can’t do that, then the appropriate course of action is to resign.
“But the system is rigged against you! Especially in this administration!”
No, people who raise a ruckus are not treated very well (in any administration), but that’s the price you pay for doing the right thing. Everyone wants to be the next Daniel Ellsberg, but nobody wants to be sidelined, blackballed, bad mouthed, ostracized, or face prison.
More to the point in this case, its not even about reporting lies, abuse or illegal behavior, but essentially ‘Trump made me do it.’
Talk about a derangement syndrome…
This dipshit who is about to spend the better part of his adult life in prison thought his politics were more important than his oath, and that he had a job for life and that entitled him to do the worst thing someone in his position could do. If that’s how you’re feeling, just quit. You’re not accomplishing anything by going turncoat except putting yourself and your freedom in jeopardy.
